International Dispute Resolution

We help government and private clients with a full range of international disputes under public and private international law.  Our public international law matters have included the laws of war, human rights, international boundary disputes, a U.N. peace plan, and stolen cultural artifacts, among others.  Our private international law matters have included foreign direct investment (equity and debt) disputes, regulatory and criminal investigations, commercial disputes, and political risk insurance.  Our experience includes multiple types of dispute resolution, such as cross-border litigation, negotiations, and arbitration as well as investment restructurings and workouts.

We distinguish ourselves by providing skill and sophistication derived from decades of living and working in emerging market countries.  As a result, we have sophisticated cross-cultural, political, and institutional expertise developed from working with a broad range of governments and civil society groups.  We also have decades of experience partnering with foreign legal counsel (both government and private) as well as other international law firms and financial advisory firms to offer sophisticated services on highly competitive terms for our clients.

The following select international dispute matters are divided into those on behalf of (I) sovereign governments and state-owned enterprises and (II) private clients, such as commercial clients, MDBs, and prominent individuals.
